The
late and still failing announcement of the World Othello Championship
2011 which would be held in the United States of America has resulted
in a first Belgian "casualty". Tom Schotte (pic) has indicated that he
will not longer participate the most important tournament of the year.

Update:
Also Marcel Peperkamp has indicated not longer having the intention to
participate. We regret that his is happening, but it's outside our
abilities. Possibly there will not even be a Belgian representant in
this years World Othello Championship
Several sources are indicating a slow progress in organsing the
tournament, which is suggesting that an official announcement of
tournament dates and place are still a long time ahead.

This
also means that two spots in the Belgian team has been liberated. Also the
female spot is still unoccupied. The current qualified players is Dimitri Vaes. He will confirm after the official
announcement if they are still able to liberate the time and growing
expenses to make the trip.
