The Belgian Othello
Association has
the honour to be the first to announce its qualifiers for the upcoming
world championship. The event will be held in the USA, somewhere
between October 15th and November 15th spread over four days. The
Belgian Othello Association is now expressing the hope that main
sponsor Anjar will announce the precise date and location as soon as
possible to enable booking plane tickets.
The qualifiers are:

Tom
Schotte, with his seven participations the most experienced player of
the Belgian team. With an eighth
participance he's equaling Serge Alard
and Alain Daix, the current record holders in Belgium. His best
position was a twelfth position in 2009 in Ghent. His list of honour is
also filled with three Belgian titles, two European Grand Prix
tournaments and a vice European title.

Marcel
Peperkamp will participate for the fourth time. This means that he
will have qualified in every Othello season when he was active. A first
time in 2004, but later on as also in 2009, 2010 and now 2011 as well.
In the period 2005-2008 he was inactive on live events, but his
come-back was impressive with his first Belgian title in 2009.

Dimitri
Vaes have been already active since 2002 at the Belgian Othello scene.
In 2003 he qualified for the world championship en managed to do this
again in 2010. He has won one tournament in his carreer; that was in
Ghent (2008). In that particular season he also claimed the throphy of
the second place in the Belgian Grand Pix. In 2009 he managed to grab
the fourth in a European Grand Prix tournament, more specific the one
organised in Prague.
Currently no lady showed any intrest to participate, but this fourth
WOC spot remains open.
